This fantastic excursion gives a vast panoramic sight on the La Valle-valley and on the Cima Nove mountain.
Starting from the village you will pass near the small nice S. Barbara Chapel: on the extern wall a fresco of the Crucifixion is still intact. It is dated 1490, as the realization of the Chapel, maybe under influence of Michael Pacher.
Going on, the hamlets of Ciablun, Runch and Biei will be reached. There is the possibility to start the tour here (minus one hour of hike). After reaching Rit, the climb to the Rit cross is advisable, where to enjoy a breathtaking sight.
The meadows on Rit are expression of silence, peace and unspoilt nature. They are part of the Natural Park of Fanes-Sennes-Braies. With some luck you can see the eagle, which makes its traditional circles over Rit and Pares, keeping tabs on its nest.
The climb to the Pares Peak is ideal for professional excursionists and lovers of the mountain. To reach the peak, there is a steep climb with 334 m of height difference. The Pares Peak, with its 2358 m above sea level, gives a wonderful panoramic sight. Who does not want to reach the peak, can go back to la Valle, taking the track starting the crossing of the tracks 13 and 16.
Best period: to climb on the Pares Peak it is advisable to wait that snow has melted, and can be reached until autumn. The rest of the tour can be done over the whole year.
The tour
Starting from the centre of the village (1,353 m) take the track nr. 6, which passes in front of the S. Barbara Chapel, the hamlets of Ciablun, Runch and Biei (1,612 m). There is the possibility to reach this last place with the car, and start the tour from here. Track nr. 6 continues until to the Rit Pass at 1,865 m above sea level. Going on on the right side, it passes the Rit Lake, arriving to the climb of the mountain wall. After that it crosses the wood, to arrive at the crossing of tracks nr. 6 and 13, which finish in Rit.
Reaching the Rit meadows, you will see the track that brings you to the Rit Cross, at 2,027 m above sea level. After a rest at this fabulous point, go back to the meadows, and hiking over track nr. 13 you will pass the traditional small hut of the sheep shepherd of Pares. The beginning track nr. 15/b takes you to Pares (2,358 m). Returning the same way, a quite steep descent arrives to the crossing with track nr. 15, then on the right continue to La Valle until arriving to the Tolpei hamlet. Who came with the car to Biei, just take the road to the parking place. Otherwise pass Tolpei and the old church of La Valle, where just the bell tower and the chapel still stand, then pass in front of the S. Barbara Chapel and go back to La Valle on the meditation track.

Starting from the town centre: tour 4 hours; tour with climb to Pares 6 hours;
Starting from Biei: tour 3 hours; tour with climb to Pares 5 hours.
Height difference
Starting from the town centre: tour 674 m; tour with climb to Pares 1,005 m;
Starting from Biei: tour 407 m; tour with climb to Pars 741 m.
Resting points: no huts or restaurants on the tour; it is proper to take provisions for the whole day.
At the end of the tour: Hotel and Restaurant Ciurnadù.
Difficulty: no particular difficulty. Climb to the Pares Peak: good condition is required.
Family friendly: children and adults can do this tour. Better condition for the last part required.
